Five Armed Robbers Apprehended In Chegutu For Assaulting Villagers With Knives And Catapults

Police authorities have detained four armed robbers in Chegutu who assaulted villagers using knives and catapults.

In an official statement, law enforcement indicated that the apprehension of the gang followed an attack on February 12, 2024.

”Police in Chegutu have arrested Kelvin Reward Makoni (30) , Patrick Mlanzi (19) , Moses Bhobho (19), Peace Mapako and Taona Mudavanhu (18) in connection with a case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property which occurred on 13/02/2024 at Larfote Shops.

The suspects attacked villagers with Columbia knives and catapults following the arrest of Tafadzwa Tavirimirwa (20). Tavirimirwa was apprehended whilst striking a male juvenuile (17) with a machete at Laforte Shops on 12/02/24.

In another incident, the police are appealing for information regarding nine suspects who attacked a fuel attendant and two security guards, making off with three cellphones, cash, and a CCTV server.

”The ZRP is appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a case of armed robbery which occurred on 17/02/2024 at a service station at corner Gleneagles and Green Trees Road, Harare.

Nine unknown suspects armed with two pistols and three unidentified firearms attacked a fuel attendant and two security guards before stealing three cellphones, US$ 2 210.00 cash and a CCTV server. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
