Harare’s Houghton Park Gets Traffic Relief with Newly Opened Link Road and Bridge

A newly constructed 750-meter link road and bridge along Harare Drive in Houghton Park, part of the Mbudzi Interchange project, were opened to traffic on November 27, 2024. The road connects Simon Mazorodze Road’s roundabout, passing through Houghton Park, Waterfalls Community Hall, and Parktown, ultimately linking with Masotsha Ndlovu Way.

With 14 out of 15 components of the Mbudzi Interchange project now complete, including two bridges on Amalinda Road and the Harare Drive link, this development aims to alleviate congestion.

The interchange, located at a key intersection, will improve traffic flow between Chitungwiza, High Glen, and central Harare, while also accommodating heavy traffic on the Harare-Masvingo Highway.

The project, led by Tefoma Construction (a consortium of Tensor Systems, Fossil Contracting, and Masimba Construction), has also involved compensation of US$38 million to 51 property owners, with plans to relocate 95 affected families to new homes in Hatcliffe.
