Johanne Masowe Nyenyedzinomwe Church of the Whole World donated a vehicle to Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) on Saturday in Bulawayo.
The vehicle is donated with the aim to curb gender-based violence and child marriages which have been rife in our indigenous churches.
This comes amid the increase of violence against women which both violates and impairs or nullifies the enjoyment by women of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Speaking at the handover ceremony Madzibaba Enoch real name Hebert Senda praise the role of the church in empowering societies.
” As churches, we really appreciate the contributions that indigenous churches have played and are still playing in making sure that gender equity and equality remains a reality rather than rhetoric, this donation of a vehicle is out of a quest to shun gender-based violence and child marriages which have been rife in our indigenous churches”, he said.
He furthers emphasised the role of the church in leadership and sustainable development.
“As churches, we are obliged to pray for the leadership of the day in order of them to have wisdom in the execution of their officiallyassigned duties and services”.
Speaking at the same event CCA President, Archbishop Rocky Moyo denounced some rogue elements, land barons in Harare high density surbub who are trying to illegally parcel one of Madzibaba Enoch’s church stand into residential homes.
In other news,A shcool principal was on Wednesday bashed in Budiriro after entering his father in-law’s bedroom demanding back lobola paid in 1997.
Lloyd Kadogwa travelled from Dema to Budiriro to demand his lobola from his father in-law, Patrick Rombero.
However, the mission turned nasty when his brothers-in-law, Tedious and Julius, attacked him.
Kadogwa is the Kid Oasis Junior School principal.
A father of four, Kadogwa made headlines when he sacked his wife, Barbara Kadogwa, and removed her from the list of directors at Kid Oasis Junior School.
“Mukasandipa pfuma yangu yandakabvisa yose nhasi munondiona,” Kadogwa could be heard screaming.
He used a stick to attack Rombero and his wife.
