Madungwe loses groceries to thieves

Guruve-based Godwin Madungwe lost groceries and welding materials to midnight thieves at his farm recently.

The matter came to light at Guruve magistrates courts yesterday where one of the thieves Timothy Ruzvidzo appeared before magistrate Geraldine Mutsoto.

Ruzvidzo was remanded in custody until 28 June while his accomplices are still at large.

The state alleged on June 10 Ruzvidzo and his two accomplices broke into Madungwe’s storeroom
m using a bolt cutter at his Nyabvuti farm and stole welding materials and groceries worth$293.

They loaded the loot in their vehicle and went to the next farm at Marirambada where they used the same modus operand.

Ruzvidzo was unlucky as he was apprehended by a mob on the scene while his accomplices fled in the dark.

In other news: A bus carrying pilgrims from the Bernard Mizeki shrine caught fire on Sunday, killing seven people.

Reverend Father Edwin Selemani, who oversees the National Shrines, said 14 other people were taken to the hospital, and three of them are in critical condition.

The annual pilgrimage at the Bernard Mizeki shrine in Marondera brings together Anglicans from Zimbabwe and other nearby regions.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident on their official X page, stating:

“We will be releasing information on a road traffic accident which occurred last night on 16/06/24. A bus carrying pilgrims from Bernard Mizeki caught fire near Gandanzara, Rusape.”

More details about the accident and the injured will be shared by the authorities soon.
