Fight over beer ends in tragedy

A 24-year-old guy was fatally stabbed with a knife during a brawl last week in Chakohwa, Chimanimani, over two quarts of beer.

Takudzwa and Lazen Shoko are accused of stabbing Kudakwashe Musweweshiri, who suffered severe head and back injuries and passed away right away.

Inspector Norbert Muzondo, spokesman for the Manicaland Provincial Police, verified the incident that took place last week at the Chakohwa Business Center on the Mutare-Masvingo Highway.

Kudakwa She was drinking beer with Cosmo Musweweshiri and Tafadzwa Mumera in a bottle shop when Cosmo left to get two quarts of beer.

Gilbert Mutizawanda urged Cosmo to purchase him a quart of beer as he followed him to the counter.

Cosmo rebuffed the request.

Gilbert kept nagging Cosmo for a beer until Cosmo shoved him away.

Tafadzwa confronted Cosmo and demanded an explanation for why he had pushed Gilbert.

Ngenyasha Madii, a different patron, intervened to stop the fight, but Tafadzwa slapped him once in the face.

As soon as the beers were purchased, Kudakwashe went to the counter and broke one of them.

He charged at Ngenyasha with a shattered piece of the bottle in hand, intending to stab him. He stabbed Takudzwa instead of hitting his intended target.

Takudzwa and Kudakwashe engaged in a fistfight as payback. Lazen entered the melee and used a knife and a broken beer bottle to stab Kudakwashe in the head and back. Kudakwashe passed away instantly, according to Inspector Muzondo.

Takudzwa was detained, but Lazen left the area and is still at large.

Inspector Muzondo urged anyone with information that could result in Lazen’s arrest to get in touch with their local police station.

Musabani Chereni (55), on the other hand, is fortunate to be alive after Shepherd Simango allegedly struck him with an iron rod as a result of an unreported disagreement.

At the time of the event, Chereni and Samson Makavaza were enjoying beers at the Machona Business Center in Chief Garahwa’s neighborhood in Chisumbanje.

Simango came up behind Chereni and hit him in the head with an iron bar.

He was also struck on the left shoulder by him.

Makavaza made an effort to stop Simango, but the latter also attacked him.

He struck Makavaza on the left shoulder before leaving the area.
