The renowned Jiti artist, Baba Harare, has found himself at the center of online debate as his Times Square billboard in New York sparks controversy.

Accusations have emerged suggesting that the popular musician manipulated his image onto the iconic billboard using Photoshop.

From Masvingo to New York:
On September 24th, Braveman Chizvino Mwanza, widely known as Baba Harare, thrilled his fanbase by sharing a promotional video for his upcoming album, “Prove Them Wrong,” featuring a display on a Times Square billboard in New York. The impressive digital billboard showcased his topless image, which serves as the album cover, along with the album’s title set to be released on October 20th, 2023.

Baba Harare Billboard:
“To the Jiti Family, yesterday we proved them wrong. Our unique Zimbabwean music has resounded in Times Square, New York, displayed proudly on the billboard. From Masvingo to Harare, the name Baba Harare has made its mark on the New York billboard. I am immensely grateful to my manager Memory and Koko for their unwavering dedication in making this remarkable achievement possible.”

Baba Harare Accused of Manipulating the Times Square Billboard:
While many offered congratulations to Baba Harare for this remarkable feat, some individuals began to delve deeper into the matter.

Allegations have surfaced suggesting that the hitmaker behind “Rita” digitally inserted himself onto the billboard to gain attention and clout. A particular user compared another video that bore similarities to Baba Harare’s but displayed noticeable differences on the billboard itself.

However, the background and traffic scenes appeared strikingly similar in both videos, raising suspicions about the authenticity of the billboard display.

Baba Harare has not addressed the issue on his socials.

To get your image on the Times Square billboards, one has to pay US$150 and the picture will play for 15 seconds every hour for 24 hours.
