Mnangagwa Declares Beitbridge Bus Crash a National Disaster, Assures State Assistance

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has departed Harare for the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He was seen off at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice Presidents, General Retired Dr. Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi.

The summit, held under the theme “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations,” will address historical injustices such as colonialism, slavery, apartheid, and systemic discrimination.

The African Union aims to unite the continent and diaspora in advocating for reparations.

Discussions are expected to focus on socio-economic development, peace, and security in Africa.

Elections for new African Union Commission leadership will also take place, with candidates including Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, Raila Odinga of Kenya, and Richard Randriaamandrato of Madagascar, vying for the chairperson position currently held by Moussa Faki Mahamat.
