Following their false predictions, three self-styled prophets were compelled to return money to a victim from Hatcliffe yesterday after being revealed.
Due to fictitious predictions and prayers they held at his home, seven men led by Godknows Muchato disrupted a church service led by Madzimai Dorcas, Madzibaba Engi, and Madzibaba Grashknows along Domboshava Road.
According to reports, Muchato was asked for $40 by Madzibaba Engi and two other people to purify his family.
“My wife is the one who consulted the prophets and she was asked to bring me to their shrine for further prayers,” said Muchato.
“I agreed and when we arrived at the shrine, I was asked to look for a lamb and bring two old men no longer interested in women, as well as three stones from Mhondoro, Murewa and Domboshava.
“I was also told to buy a clay pot and was charged US$40 for the items and money for transport since I was unable to travel to the three places.
“They took my two shirts claiming that they would use them in the cleansing ceremony.
“After payment they promised to remove a tortoise from my house which they claimed was causing my car to always have mechanical faults.
“When they arrived at my house to remove the so-called tortoise, one of them claimed it had changed into a bat and flew away,” said Muchato.

Together, they went to ask for his money back.
Madzimai Dorcas gave Muchato $30 and said that the next week she would pay the remaining money and return his two clothes.
Madzimai Dorcas explained, “I am the one in charge of this shrine and I was not informed of the prayers conducted therefore I was left with no alternative than to return their money.
“The other two prophets who went to Godknows’ house with Madzibaba Engi are in Glen Norah, where we have another church branch.
According to Hmetro ,Madzimai Dorcas, “Godknows came here and interrupted our service, demanding his money, and several of the others with him threatened to beat us.”
Madzibaba Engi begged Godknows for harmony and expressed regret that the cleaning ceremony hadn’t been performed.
Madzibaba Engi apologized profusely and stated, “I’ll talk to my other comrades about making peace with Godknows.”
Clay pots are being purchased from Domboshava by a number of self-styled prophets, who then sell them to their gullible victims.
