Bird strike at the Harare airport disrupts Fastjet aircraft.
Recent bird strikes upon landing at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport caused a Fastjet aircraft to be grounded.
The event, according to a statement from the company’s Corporate Communications division, was a factor in the recent disruptions to travel plans and flight schedules.
The damage required an oversized replacement part that required specialized transportation to Harare.
“The component was installed in accordance with the acceptable maintenance methods recommended by the manufacturer.
The aircraft is currently flying according to the airline’s advertised schedule after returning to regular operation.
The precise definition of a bird strike is a collision between a bird and an aircraft that is in flight or rolling out for takeoff or landing.
Fastjet issued an apology to its clients for any trouble the incident may have caused.
