The family of a bus conductor on the Beitbridge-Masvingo route is requesting an explanation over the death of their son. The conductor is said to have died after being struck by a trailer from a kombi.
Regarding the reason behind his death, there are a lot of unanswered issues and developing theories.
According to early accounts, Leo Tinashe Masocha was struck by a trailer and passed away right away. It was also alleged that he was drunk.
The driver’s and the police’s stories, according to the family, are contradictory, which fueled suspicions of foul play the night of the occurrence.
On July 1, at approximately 10 a.m., an accident happened at the 60-kilometer point on the Beitbridge-Masvingo route. Four days later, Masocha was laid to rest in Chivi.

The family is adamant that the vehicle involved in the tragedy was a bus, not a kombi. Masocha was intoxicated when the incident occurred, as the police attested to.
His mother, Miriam Zimondi, said:
“The police reported Tinashe died instantly in a hit-and-run accident, while the driver said he passed away at the hospital after being struck by a car. Given the inconsistencies in the statements, we question why a post-mortem was not done.
“Our finances are a struggle. We were informed that there should be no post-mortem performed on the deceased. For us as a family, there are a lot of unanswered issues and great sadness associated with this circumstance.
The driver claims that although our son was struck from behind by a pickup truck, the vehicle did not stop. The police say the driver passed away at the spot, while the driver says he passed away at the hospital. Considering that blood was found in the bus and subsequently removed at the police station, we are very perplexed.
Additionally, it is reported that the driver gave the body to the police; however, we are not of what became of the clothes the driver left inside the bus.
