Ropafadzo Msipa, a 25-year-old housekeeper from Chiredzi, has become the proud owner of a smart house after participating in the 2024 Econet Tapinda Sesingenile Promotion.
Ropafadzo qualified for the promotion by purchasing a US$5 airtime voucher, a small investment that led to her winning a fully furnished smart home in Penrose Estate, Nyabira—about 32 kilometers from Harare along the Chinhoyi Road.
The prize includes a solar-powered three-bedroom house equipped with fitted cupboards and advanced home security features powered by the Econet Smart House system.
In an interview, Ropafadzo expressed her disbelief and excitement:
“I couldn’t believe it when someone called, saying I had won a house through the Econet promotion. At first, I thought it was a prank and refused to share my personal details. But in September, I got another call and was invited to Harare. When I arrived, they took me to the house, and I signed all the documents. Now, all that’s left is for me to move in.”

She went on to express her gratitude to Econet:
“I never imagined I’d own a home so soon, especially with just US$5. Econet has truly given back to the community.”
Econet has listed Ropafadzo among other promotion winners on its website. Other recipients include Rebecca Mushuku from Gutu, Memory Chinyama, and Joel Dube, among others.
Alongside the smart house, the promotion awarded solar kits, gas stoves, smartphones, airtime, cash prizes, and branded merchandise. The campaign ran from November 2023 to February 2024, celebrating community participation and rewarding loyal customers.
