Armed female robs passenger

A 22-year-old Cold Comfort woman lost cash and valuables to an armed female driver who robs her after boarded a  Mushikashika along Bulawayo Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Salome Nyika boarded a blue Honda Fit, which was being driven by a woman at the Copacabana rank, in central Harare.

She was travelling to Cold Comfort.

Harare provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova, confirmed the incident.

He once again urged commuters to board buses under the ZUPCO franchise.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case involving a woman, who was robbed at gunpoint along Bulawayo Road, on Wednesday at 1200hrs,” said Ass Insp Dzvova.

“The motor vehicle was being driven by a female driver and the second accused was later picked up at another point after the complainant had boarded the vehicle.

“The motor vehicle was driven into Samora Machel Avenue taking the Bulawayo direction.

“As they drove towards OK Marimba, Belvedere in Harare, the driver stopped the car and pointed a pistol towards the complainant.

“She ordered her to surrender all her belongings, including a Gtel X7 cellphone, black handbag, US$80, plates and some groceries.

“The two ordered the complainant to disembark and they sped off.

“The total value stolen is USD$280.”

A SUSPECTED human trafficking syndicate ring leader, Farisisai Mupeti (35), has been arrested and taken to court on two counts of contravening the Trafficking in Persons Act.

Mupeti, of Rusike Phase 3 in Marondera, appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded her in custody to June 1 after advising her to seek bail at the High Court due the the severity of the crime.

According to the state, sometime in November 2022, Mupeti made false representations to the first victim well aware she intended to traffic her for labour exploitation.

Acting in connivance with one Lincell Allimonis (still at large) believed to be in Oman, Mupeti lied to her first victim that there was a job opportunity in Dubai.
