Sakhile Dube hands over the Miss Supranational Zimbabwe crown to the new queen, Yollanda Elizabeth Chimbarami.

On Saturday, May 25, at the Casino Marina at Longcheng Plaza, Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Sakhile Dube, handed over the Miss Supranational Zimbabwe crown to new queen Yollanda Elizabeth Chimbarami, an international model, economist, voice actor, philanthropist, actress, and shoe designer.

Sakhile was last year’s reigning queen, and at the international supranational contest, she won the Africa region crown last July in Poland.

According to Farai Zembeni, the man behind the pageant, he has faith in Yollanda. “She will do us well as a candidate and ambassador to represent our country in Poland in July. Miss Supranational Zimbabwe is a platform for youth empowerment whose goal is to enable young women to rise to leadership positions in their communities and professions. The main goal of this particular pageant, which took place in a very small and intimate venue this year, was to find a queen who is willing to serve others before herself.”

The competition had eight beautiful candidates who all had an eye for the crown, and judging from their composure and all the requirements expected from them, they indeed had thoroughly prepared for a win.

The 26-year-old Yollanda, who is Canada-based, has a very rich portfolio. She is a voice artist and actress who has featured in many films, including animations, namely the Disney series Supa Strikas, Windfall, In Plain Sight, Finally Caught, Stump the Guesser, The Rabbit Hunters, One Winter Weekend, Snowed Inn Christmas, Snowbound, The Day My Job Tried to Kill Me, and A Social.

She has been involved in philanthropic work for more than nine years. She upholds the human virtues of kindness, nonviolence, peace, and morality. She founded Help A Child Save A Nation (HACSAN) to uplift others, and she provides children with tuition funding every school term.

She aspires to see children in the community restored to a position of honor in their families and to a proper place in society through sustainable economic, spiritual, emotional, and social development, ultimately breaking the cycle of drug abuse and poverty, and advocates for Africans to have access to higher learning. Besides volunteering for the UN, she also serves as a youth ambassador for the Rick Hansen Foundation.

While pursuing a master’s degree in finance and economics, Yollanda is managing her academic pursuits with her flourishing career.

“I am ready for the work ahead of me in preparation for the global platform where I will be representing my country, Zimbabwe, as an ambassador in Poland,” she said.

Yollanda is no stranger to such platforms; she was the 2017 Teen Commercial Model of the Year, had the Teen Charity Project of the Year, and received the title of Teen Model of the Year.

She competed for Zimbabwe in the 2018 World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, where she won a gold medal and was named the best swimsuit model out of 70 nations.

She competed in and finished second in the 2022 Miss Supranational Zimbabwe pageant. In the Miss Intercontinental competition held in Egypt that year, she represented Zimbabwe and finished in the top 20 out of 80 countries.
