Sakhile Dube, representing Zimbabwe, finished among the top 30 in the recently concluded Miss Universe pageant held in Mexico. The title of Miss Universe 2024 was awarded to Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig, marking a historic win as she is the first Dane to achieve this title.
Nigerian contestant Chidimma Adetshina claimed the first runner-up position, while Mexico’s Maria Fernanda Beltran secured the second runner-up spot. The top five also included Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri and Venezuela’s Ileana Marquez.
Despite being a favorite among fans, Sakhile did not make it into the top 12, which disappointed many who had supported her through social media. It was unexpected that she also did not qualify for the competition’s Voice For Change segment, an initiative that encourages contestants to create videos advocating for social issues.
Sakhile dazzled in a dress designed by local designer Ishmael Tsakatsa from the Zarguesia brand. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed immense gratitude to the people of Zimbabwe for their unwavering support.
