They allegedly destroyed Mr. Milton Mukura’s tuck shop and loaded the iron sheets onto a City of Mutare vehicle. When Mr. Mukura inquired about the destination of the iron sheets, he was ordered to board the council vehicle.
As they were en route to the City of Mutare stores offices, near Rujeko Primary School, the driver, Takaendesa, stopped the vehicle. The officers instructed Mr. Mukura to disembark, but he refused. Mutsigiri threatened to handcuff him if he did not comply.
Four of the accused then allegedly forced Mr. Mukura out of the vehicle, assaulted him, and left him on the ground screaming for help. A resident, Mr. Pfungwa Mukoshi, heard the commotion and reported it to the police. Mr. Mukura was subsequently admitted to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
The accused are now facing charges of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
