In Bulawayo, authorities have detained 18-year-old Celine Ngwenya in connection with allegations of ending her pregnancy.
According to reports, Ngwenya allegedly used abortion pills to terminate the pregnancy, sparking significant legal and ethical debates.
It is reported that after the procedure, Ngwenya hid the foetus at her home and later buried it in a shallow grave near a stream between Makoni and nearby shops in Nkulumane.
The discovery of the foetus prompted police to intervene, exhuming it and transporting it to Mpilo Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

This case brings attention to the broader issue of unsafe abortion practices and the legal consequences that can arise in such situations in the region.
The incident has fueled discussions around the availability of reproductive health services and the social stigma that often accompanies teenage pregnancies.
Local authorities are now looking into the circumstances that led to the termination and the factors influencing Ngwenya’s decision.
As the investigation progresses, the case raises critical questions about the adequacy of legal and healthcare systems for supporting vulnerable individuals.
