Lawmakers from both Zanu PF and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have expressed support for President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028, emphasizing that the nation’s current developmental progress should be sustained.
During a tour of the First Family’s Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe yesterday, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu, remarked, “If the people of Zimbabwe are content with your leadership and we endorse your continued presidency, so be it.”
Zanu PF Deputy Political Commissar, Cde Webster Shamu, echoed these sentiments, noting that members of Parliament from both sides were eager for President Mnangagwa to extend his leadership tenure beyond 2028.
“Our MPs have been vocal about their desire for you to continue leading the country, ensuring stability and progress,” said Cde Shamu.
Mr. Tshabangu praised the President’s exemplary leadership, stating that it was a model for unity and development. “As Zimbabweans, we must find common ground, celebrate together, and work towards our shared goals. I may face criticism for my stance, but constructive critique only strengthens us as a nation,” he said. He further emphasized the importance of national unity and collaboration in Parliament to advance Zimbabwe’s development agenda.

Legislators from both parties were reportedly impressed by the farming operations at Pricabe Farm. Mr. Tshabangu described the farm’s achievements as a reflection of the agricultural potential that Zimbabwe could harness to improve food security.
“This level of production is inspiring. If replicated nationwide, it could significantly boost our food supply and transform the agricultural sector,” he said.
Dr. Thokozani Khupe, a CCC proportional representation MP, lauded the President’s leadership and the lessons that could be drawn from the First Family’s success in farming. “Development is about learning from those who are excelling. We’ve come here to observe and draw inspiration. What we’ve seen is evidence that Zimbabwe can reclaim its position as Africa’s Breadbasket,” she stated.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Owen Ncube, voiced support for President Mnangagwa’s continued leadership, noting that the province strongly favored his leadership extending beyond 2028. “Our province stands firmly behind your continued presidency beyond 2030,” said Minister Ncube.
Zanu PF Chief Whip, Cde Pupurai Togarepi, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the First Family’s agricultural initiatives, highlighting their relevance to national development goals.
