ZIMSEC Extends Registration Deadline for November 2025 Exams

The results of the June 2024 Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations, which marked notable shifts in pass rates, were revealed by the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC).

The results of the Ordinary Level showed a noticeable improvement, according to ZIMSEC Board Chair Professor Paul Mapfumo, during a media briefing on Tuesday in Harare. From the pitiful 0.46% the year before, the pass rate for Ordinary Levels jumped to 4.44%. The increase implies that there has been some advancement in the educational system’s capacity to get students ready for these assessments.

However, the situation was markedly different for the Advanced Level results. The pass rate fell sharply to 31.67%, a significant decrease from 75.89% in June 2023. This represents a substantial 44.22% drop in the overall pass rate, indicating serious challenges in the Advanced Level curriculum or examination process.

Candidates can now view their results online by visiting the ZIMSEC website at www.zimsec.co.zw. The online system aims to provide students with immediate access to their performance data, facilitating easier and more efficient result retrieval.

Additionally, school heads are informed that beginning on Wednesday, hard copies of the results can be picked up from ZIMSEC regional offices. This will make it possible for schools to provide kids their findings and provide further help as needed.

The significant difference between the scores at the Ordinary and Advanced Levels has spurred debates over the causes of these changes and whether or not educational reforms are necessary.
