The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) is a new scholarship program that replaces the previous Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS). This scholarship is available for a range of master’s programs at Swedish universities, with opportunities for students to apply for the Autumn 2025 intake.
The goal of the SISGP is to nurture future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promote positive, sustainable development in their home countries and regions.
Host Institutions: Swedish Higher Education Institutions and Universities.
Field of Study: The scholarship supports full-time one- or two-year master’s programs at Swedish universities and higher education institutions. There are approximately 700 English-taught master’s programs eligible for the SISGP, including disciplines in humanities, agricultural sciences, medicine, public health, natural sciences, social sciences, and technology. Number of Scholarships: Approximately 350 scholarships will be awarded.
Target Group: The scholarship is open to students from the following countries: Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Zambia.
Scholarship Value/Inclusions/Duration: The SISGP covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000, health insurance, and a one-time travel grant between SEK 10,000 and SEK 15,000 (for scholarship holders residing outside Sweden).

The scholarship is intended for full-time, one- or two-year master’s programs and is only available for programs starting in the autumn semester. It does not include additional grants for family members and does not cover the application fee to University Admissions.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the SISGP, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed above (residence in the country is not required at the time of application).
- Apply for one of the eligible master’s programs listed on the official website.
- Have relevant work experience and demonstrated leadership, either from professional experience or civil society involvement.
- Be required to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, follow the University Admissions process, pay the application fee on time, and be admitted to one of the eligible programs by the time of admission announcements.
Additional conditions regarding dual citizenship, prior residence in Sweden, and previous studies may apply. Full eligibility criteria are available on the official website.
Application Instructions: The application period for the SISGP will open from February 10 to February 26, 2025. Applicants must first apply for a master’s program at universityadmissions.se by January 15, 2025. After submitting the application, a personal application number will be issued, which is required for the scholarship application. Once the master’s program application is complete, students can apply for the SISGP through the online application portal between February 10 and February 26, 2025.
