Dynamos End Two-Game Slump with Strong Performance at Barbourfields

DYNAMOS ended their two-game losing streak in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a strong win over Arenel Movers at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.

The team, known as the blue and white army, was inspired by two first-half goals from Emmanuel Ziocha and Valentine Kadonzvo. Previously, Dynamos had lost to CAPS United and Chicken Inn. Arenel’s only goal came from Chrispen Machisi in the second half.

Ziocha scored first for Dynamos in the fifth minute, taking advantage of a mistake by Arenel’s goalkeeper, Aaron Ngwenya. Ngwenya tried to clear the ball but passed it to Ziocha, who scored.

Kadonzvo added a second goal just before halftime, chipping the ball over Ngwenya after getting behind the defense. Machisi scored for Arenel in the 70th minute with a good shot inside the box.

Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe was pleased with the win and the support from the crowd. He noted that playing against a team fighting to avoid relegation is always tough, but he appreciated the three points. While they can’t win the championship now, finishing in the top four would be a nice achievement.

Arenel coach Philani Ncube acknowledged their defeat, saying, “We lost, but they were not better than us. They wanted it more. In the first half, we let them play too easily. We need to be more aware during the game. The goalkeeper’s mistake happens in football, and we didn’t defend well for the second goal. After going down by two goals, it was hard to come back.”

After Dynamos took the lead, Arenel had a chance to equalize three minutes later, but Toto Banda’s header went over the bar. Dynamos kept up the pressure, with Emmanuel Jalai sending in a low cross that was cleared for a corner.

In the 17th minute, Brian Jaravaza’s free-kick was saved by Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Makoni. Lucky Nyathi nearly scored for Arenel, but his shot was also saved by Makoni.

Dynamos almost scored again during a counter-attack, but Ziocha shot straight at Ngwenya. Moments later, Ngwenya made another good save against Dynamos substitute Emmanuel Paga.
