“The torch has been passed” to Kamala Harris, to be the president of the United States, Barack Obama informed fellow Democrats in Chicago on Tuesday.
In the crowded arena that housed the party’s nominating convention, former president Obama was met with thunderous clapping and chants. He declared that Vice President Harris would defend Americans and referred to her opponent in the November poll, Donald Trump, as “dangerous.”
“Kamala Harris is ready for the job. This is a person who has spent most of her life fighting for people who need a voice,” he said.
President Obama described Harris as “someone who sees you and hears you and will get up every single day and fight for you.”

Obama remarked to Harris, “Yes she can,” which prompted the raucous assembly to chant it aloud many times, echoing Obama’s own “Yes we can” campaign slogan.
Prior to his spectacular show, his spouse, Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the United States, informed attendees that “something magically wonderful is in the air.”
“It’s the contagious power of hope,” she said, calling Harris “my girl” and saying that hope — another rallying cry of her husband’s successful 2008 campaign — “is making a comeback”.
His turn heightened the already celebratory atmosphere in Chicago, where, less than a month after abandoning his bid for reelection, President Joe Biden made his own moving speech late on Monday.
Wearing a hat in the colors of her native Maryland, Mae Beale stated, “They shared with us how they felt, and we were able to resonate with them.”
“They were so real… I could identify with everything they were saying.”
Her spouse, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, informed the convention in incredibly intimate words that centered on Harris’s attributes, “she is ready.”
He remarked, “She brings both joy and toughness to this task,” to applause.
“At this moment in our nation’s history, she is exactly the right president.”
Democrats are expressing their confidence in their ability to defeat Trump, as seen by the party’s unity and Harris’s excellent polling.
