A devastating accident involving two commuter omnibuses (kombis) has left several passengers seriously injured at the intersection of Seke Road and St Patrick’s in Hatfield this morning.
Eyewitnesses report that the kombis collided head-on, resulting in widespread destruction and chaos.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found multiple victims trapped in the wreckage.
“I was on my way to work when I heard a loud crash,” said Jane Moyo, a witness.
“I saw people screaming and trying to get out of the kombis. It was horrific.”
Authorities have confirmed that several commuters have been seriously injured, with some in critical condition.
The exact number of casualties is still unknown.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, but sources suggest that reckless driving may have contributed to the crash.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety in Zimbabwe, particularly involving kombis, which are a popular mode of transportation for many commuters.
The scene has been cordoned off, and traffic is being diverted while emergency services tend to the victims.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
