Brothers Robbed of US$2,000 While Offering Help
Kwekwe, Zimbabwe – Two brothers from Kwekwe found themselves robbed of US$2,000 after attempting to assist three individuals who approached them under the guise of needing help. The unfortunate incident occurred at Truckers Inn in Kwekwe on Monday evening.
According to Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the Midlands provincial police spokesperson, the incident unfolded when Edson and Kidson Kutyauripo were approached by three men claiming to have a tire puncture along the highway and seeking assistance.
“The two brothers exited their vehicle with the intention of aiding the stranded individuals, but to their surprise, one of the three assailants suddenly brandished an iron bar and launched a vicious attack on the Kutyauripo brothers,” Inspector Mahoko explained.
In the chaos that ensued, one of the brothers managed to escape, but the other was forcibly pulled into the assailants’ car while enduring further physical assault. The perpetrators proceeded to search the vehicle, ultimately making off with a significant sum of US$2,000 in cash, as well as the victims’ cellphones.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with acts of goodwill, even in seemingly safe environments. The police are currently conducting investigations to bring the culprits to justice and recover the stolen items.
Inspector Mahoko urged the public to exercise caution when approached by strangers seeking assistance, emphasizing the importance of personal safety and the need to be vigilant in such situations.
He encouraged individuals to report any suspicious activities or incidents to the authorities promptly.
