The Eastern Cape has been hit by a series of tragic shootings, claiming more than 24 lives in less than two weeks. Among the incidents, 18 people were killed in a mass shooting in Lusikisiki, and six community patrollers were fatally shot at a school.
In the most recent attack, two people were killed in their home in Motherwell, Gqeberha, on Thursday night, leaving two others critically injured, according to police reports.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, stated that three armed men allegedly stormed into a house in NU12, Motherwell, at around 9 p.m.

The victims were watching television when the attackers, wearing balaclavas, entered through the kitchen door and opened fire.
A woman died at the scene, and another victim succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the hospital. The two remaining victims, a man and a woman, are currently receiving medical care.
The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and the identities of the deceased have been withheld pending formal identification. Police are urging the public to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
