According to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, local contractors have shown an unrelenting dedication to upgrading Zimbabwe’s infrastructure, which is in keeping with his objective of propelling the country into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
Speaking at the inauguration of the recently built Boulevard Road, which connects the Harare-Bindura Road to the new Parliament building in Mount Hampden, Mnangagwa commended the efforts of local contractors such as Exodus & Company and Bitumen World.
“I am happy that as young people the media you tell the world that we are building and developing our country on our own terms and pace without any undue pressure,” Mnangagwa said.
“Those who developed their country are proud of their efforts and we are doing the same with our country.”
Exodus & Company, led by CEO Progress Mambo, is currently working on the dualisation of the Harare-Kanyemba Road, a critical infrastructure project that will improve connectivity and facilitate economic growth in the region.
“We are going to incorporate features in line with modernity and the new Parliament in terms of its features,” Mambo said, highlighting the company’s commitment to aligning its work with the government’s modernization agenda.

Similarly, Bitumen World, under the leadership of CEO Andre Zietsman, constructed the Boulevard Road, which the President described as a “top-notch and modern four-lane road.”
Mnangagwa emphasized that the government will continue to implement infrastructure development on its own terms and pace, in keeping with the mantra “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo” (The country is built by its owners).
The President’s remarks echo the government’s unwavering determination to achieve its ambitious 2030 vision, with local contractors playing a crucial role in transforming the country’s infrastructure landscape through their expertise and unparalleled workmanship.
As Zimbabwe continues its journey towards an upper-middle-income economy, the collaboration between the government and indigenous contractors like Exodus & Company and Bitumen World stands as a testament to the nation’s self-reliance and its steadfast commitment to building a prosperous future.
