A serious traffic accident that happened on May 9, 2024, at around 2:08 PM, near the intersection of Simon Mazorodze Road and Remembrance Drive in Harare is currently being looked into by the police. One individual was hurt in the collision between a Nissan Caravan with registration number AEB 1040 and another Nissan Caravan with registration number AFQ 8137. Five other automobiles were later involved in the collision as well.

Although the authorities have not revealed the official reason for the initial event, it is noteworthy that kombi drivers’ careless actions in eluding traffic police at unapproved pick-up and drop-off locations are frequently the cause of such incidents. This risky behavior regularly results in mishaps that cause serious injuries and fatalities.

Concerns have been raised by critics of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP) use of force, especially in relation to the fast-paced chases of fully loaded kombis. These activities, which are best described as high-stakes cat and mouse games, have come under fire for showing little concern for the safety of people. Simon Mazorodze Road
