President’s Cup Positions Zimbabwe as Golf Tourism Destination

Bulawayo, April 17, 2026 — Zimbabwe is strengthening its position as an emerging golf tourism destination following the successful hosting of the President’s Golf Cup.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Sport Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe commended stakeholders for raising the tournament’s profile.

“We applaud the organisers and all golf associations. This tournament must continue growing into a global event,” he said.

NetOne CEO Engineer Raphael Mushanawani said the competition aligns with national development goals.

“It enhances Zimbabwe’s visibility and attracts international participation, directly contributing to economic growth,” he said.

He noted that digital connectivity provided by NetOne ensures global reach and engagement.

Africa Golf Federation President Gift Omolo highlighted Zimbabwe’s competitive advantage.

“Harare has more than 10 quality golf courses. With proper promotion, Zimbabwe can become a leading golf tourism hub,” he said.

Omolo pointed to Morocco as a benchmark for success in Africa.

Minister Sanyatwe urged stakeholders to expand development.

“We must invest in rural golf and grassroots programmes to ensure inclusive growth,” he said
