Hwindi President Wants to Quit Music as It’s Not Paying Him

Bessel Parehwa, popularly known as Hwindi President in the Zimdancehall scene, made waves by expressing his desire to step away from music in pursuit of more lucrative opportunities.

In a candid social media post, Hwindi President shared that music is not his primary focus for earning money and that he intends to explore alternative avenues. This revelation sparked a mix of reactions from fans and fellow artists alike.

While some fellow artists encouraged him to reconsider and continue contributing his talent to the music industry, others highlighted the practicality of diversifying income streams. The sentiment among fans echoed a similar theme, urging Hwindi President not to completely abandon music but rather to supplement it with additional sources of income. This approach is seen as a practical strategy to sustain oneself in an industry where financial success can be unpredictable.

“He can do music and other hustles so that he won’t feel the gap.Having a side hustle/hustles as an artist is not bad because when one side is low the other one covers up.Most artists think they will make money through music forever that’s why you see some of them struggling after some years of fame.

The announcement from Hwindi President has also drawn attention to the broader issue of talent management within Zimbabwe’s music scene. Plot Mhako, an award-winning music and arts journalist, highlighted the challenges many artists face due to inadequate management support. He emphasized the need for skilled talent managers to guide and nurture artists, preventing burnout and frustration.

“This post by one of my favorite artists caught my attention. I think he is incredibly talented, but seems like he lacks proper management. Zimbabwe has a wealth of amazing talent at the moment, but unfortunately, many artists suffer from poor management. The lack of skilled talent managers is leading to frustration and burnout for some artists,” he posted.
