John Madondo, a notable businessman in Rusape, found himself embroiled in a disturbing plot allegedly involving the ritualistic murder of a seven-year-old Grade One pupil.
Reports surfaced linking Madondo to the scheme, purportedly orchestrated to procure the child’s head for ritual purposes. However, in a peculiar turn of events, Madondo took to Facebook to vehemently dismiss these claims, asserting that he is facing persecution due to his faith in Jesus Christ.
The plot unfolded when Tatenda Mudziwedare (20) was convicted of attempted murder after confessing to assaulting the young schoolboy, Alvin Kambadza. Mudziwedare reportedly accosted the child, nearly strangling him, before being interrupted by passing villagers. Mudziwedare, who stood unrepresented, appeared before Rusape regional magistrate Francis Mapfumo and was sentenced to four years in prison.

During the trial, Mudziwedare implicated Madondo, alleging that he had been instructed by the businessman to procure a human head for ritualistic purposes. However, John Madondo, who had been residing in South Africa, adamantly refuted these accusations on social media, asserting his innocence and expressing shock at the allegations.
Claiming to have received no official communication from the authorities, Madondo expressed his frustration over being targeted due to his religious beliefs and efforts to conduct legitimate business. He emphasized his lack of involvement in the alleged plot, labeling the circulating rumors as baseless and insisting on his ignorance regarding the situation.
Madondo’s denial on social media comes amidst reports of police inquiries and the emergence of the story on various platforms. Despite the unfolding drama, Madondo maintains his innocence, attributing the situation to unfounded speculation and religious persecution.
