According to reports, on September 18, a team of police intelligence detectives at Dangamvura Police Station received a tip-off about Munamwe selling the illegal syrup from his residence. It was further revealed that Nyanzunda was the supplier of the Broncleer syrup.

A raid was conducted at Munamwe’s house, leading to the recovery of some drugs. Subsequently, another raid was carried out at Nyanzunda’s residence, resulting in the discovery of additional boxes of the syrup.

“On September 18, Nyanzunda and Munamwe were arrested at their respective places of residence for allegedly selling unregistered medicines. The two had over 200x100mls of Broncleer syrup,” stated Inspector Muzondo.

He added, “After receiving a tip-off, the police reacted quickly and proceeded to Munamwe’s residence. Before the police conducted the search, Munamwe voluntarily declared a box containing 56x100mls of Broncleer syrup, which was found in his wardrobe.”

Inspector Muzondo further explained, “The team then proceeded to Nyanzunda’s residence, where a search was conducted, leading to the discovery of three boxes hidden behind her cottage. These boxes contained 150x100mls bottles of Broncleer syrup.”

During the investigation, Nyanzunda admitted to receiving the drugs as a parcel from South Africa. She had allegedly tasked Munamwe with selling the drugs on her behalf.

The two accused individuals were subsequently escorted to ZRP Dangamvura Police Station, where a case of selling or possessing unregistered medicines was opened.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter, and legal proceedings will follow to determine the appropriate actions and charges against the accused.
