Man Kills Granny, Cuts Off Her Left Breast
An 82-year-old woman, Gogo Zvierengwi Manyeredzi, was fatally struck with a hoe handle by her 30-year-old grandson, Farai Mahwindi, who is believed to be mentally challenged.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Magama Village under Chief Nemangwe, Gokwe.
Tragically, he also cut off her left breast during the attack.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, describing it as a murder case. According to Inspector Mahoko, the victim’s son, Phibeon Mahwindi, had left for the fields, while his wife Catherine Manyeredzi went to the garden, leaving Gogo Zvierengwi and the suspect at home.
Upon Catherine’s return, she discovered her mother-in-law’s lifeless body in the kitchen hut, with an open wound on her head. Villagers, alerted by Catherine, found Farai’s tracks leading from the kitchen into the bush, raising suspicions of his involvement in the attack.
Upon examination, the police found a deep cut on the back of the victim’s head and her left breast completely removed. A blood-stained wooden hoe handle was discovered beside the body. The victim was taken to Gokwe South District Hospital, while the suspect remains at large.
During investigations, it was revealed that Farai had previously committed a murder in 2016 and was found to be mentally challenged. He was committed to Mlondolozi Prison Psychiatric Unit, from where he was discharged in November last year.
