What was expected to be a glamorous and empowering night turned into confusion and disappointment at the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 pageant.
Famous South African actress and former beauty queen Connie Ferguson was invited to Harare to be a guest judge at the event, held at the fancy Hippodrome venue. She flew in on a fully sponsored trip and was meant to add class and credibility to the show.
But things started going wrong as soon as the event began. Technical problems, long delays, and awkward moments took over the night. One embarrassing moment happened when host Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa mistakenly called Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume “His Excellency,” which caused some laughter and concern in the audience.
The show also had too many hosts—Ruvheneko, Becky K, and Arthur Evans—who kept interrupting and confusing each other on stage.
Then came the biggest surprise: instead of announcing the top 5 contestants, the judges went straight to crowning Lyshanda Moyos as the winner. Many in the audience were shocked because Lyshanda had struggled with her answer during the interview segment.
“She couldn’t even answer the question properly,” said one surprised fan. “Other girls did much better.”
Despite the problems, Connie Ferguson stayed professional and gave an inspiring speech about how beauty pageants can help young women grow and succeed in life.
“I know what this platform can do. It changed my life,” she said.
Still, many people left the venue feeling upset. Some said the way the winner was chosen reminded them of Zimbabwe’s political issues, where results are often unclear.
Now, many are wondering if Connie Ferguson will speak out about the night’s drama.
One thing is clear — instead of shining bright, Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 left many with more questions than answers.
