Harare Man Loses Supreme Court Bid in Murder Case , Spencer Sithole, serving a 17-year sentence for murdering his ex-girlfriend’s lover has failed in his Supreme Court bid to appeal against his conviction and sentence.

Sithole was convicted for killing Gugu Mkwananzi in 2017 after finding him in bed with his ex-girlfriend, Josephine Morrow. Despite seeking condonation for the late filing of his appeal application, the Supreme Court ruled against Sithole, citing weak defense arguments.

Additionally, his aggressive entry into Morrow’s residence suggested he was already in a belligerent state.

During the trial, prosecutors revealed that Morrow had left Sithole for Mkwananzi at the time of the murder. Sithole arrived at Morrow’s home after a night of heavy drinking and attacked Mkwananzi upon finding them together in bed.

Despite Sithole’s claim of acting in self-defense and still being in love with Morrow, the court found him guilty of murder with constructive intent, sentencing him to 17 years in prison.

Following his conviction,Spencer Sithole filed the unsuccessful Supreme Court application to appeal his sentence and conviction.
