Ordinary Level Results to Be Released by Zimsec This Afternoon

ZIMSEC O LEVEL Results

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) Ordinary Level examination results are set to be released today.

Professor Paul Mafumo, the chairperson of the Zimsec board, will officially announce the results at a press briefing scheduled for 2:30 PM at the Zimsec headquarters in Harare.

According to a report by The Chronicle, these results follow the recent release of the 2024 November Advanced Level results, which recorded a national pass rate of 94.58%, consistent with the previous year.

In the 2024 Ordinary Level examinations, 33,585 candidates participated, marking a slight decline of 2.47% compared to the 34,437 candidates in 2023.

Out of the total candidates, 33,246 sat for two or more subjects, with 31,443 achieving a Grade E or better, maintaining the pass rate at 94.58%, the same as in 2023.

Female candidates showed notable progress, achieving a pass rate of 95.94% among those who took two or more subjects, up from 92.32% in the previous year. Male candidates, on the other hand, recorded a pass rate of 93.13%, slightly lower than their 93.95% performance in 2023.

This year saw remarkable improvements among special needs candidates. Of the 40 students who participated, 38 passed with a Grade E or better, resulting in a 95% pass rate, a significant rise from 84.62% in 2023.

The majority of candidates (29,041) were school-based, a slight decrease from 29,910 the previous year. Among these, 27,509 achieved a Grade E or better, reflecting a stable pass rate of 95.18%, nearly identical to 95.19% in 2023.

Private candidates numbered 4,544, with 4,346 sitting for two or more subjects. Of these, 3,934 passed, yielding a pass rate of 90.52%, slightly below the previous year’s 90.57%.
