In a distressing incident, Tichaona Chariwa, a Kombi driver has been apprehended for the alleged rape of a 36-year-old female police officer, according to a memo from Nembudziya Police Station.
On February 13, around 1 am, Tichaona Chariwa, a 37-year-old Kombi driver, reportedly attempted to rape the female constable. The unsettling events unfolded when the complainant asked Chariwa to pick her up from her residence to transport her to Kadoma using his Kombi.
Upon arriving at the complainant’s homestead, where she was still in the process of packing her bags, Chariwa was asked to wait outside. However, he allegedly entered her room, approached her from behind, and forcibly grabbed her.

The police officer resisted his advances, pushing him away and even using her elbow to defend herself. Temporarily leaving the premises, Chariwa allegedly returned and forcefully reentered the complainant’s house. Overpowering her, he pushed her onto the bed and attempted to rape her.
Despite the complainant’s brave resistance, Chariwa succeeded in committing the assault. The following day, she confided in a workmate about the horrifying ordeal and promptly filed a report with the police.
Tichaona Chariwa now faces serious charges as the legal system takes action to address this alarming incident of sexual assault.
