The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, has launched an investigation into a heated altercation between a lecturer and a student, which has gained widespread attention on social media.
The incident involves Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a third-year student in the Department of History and International Studies. Reports indicate that the student confronted the lecturer after allegedly accusing him of attempting to touch her breasts.
Eyewitnesses say the confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, prompting swift intervention by university authorities. The matter has since drawn significant public concern, with calls for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
In a statement, Unizik’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, confirmed that a full-scale, transparent, and unbiased probe has been initiated.
