VILLAGERS in Chipinge District’s Chibuwe area live in constant fear as lions wreak havoc, preying on both humans and animals.
Last Saturday, predators in the neighborhood killed an ox and numerous goats.
Councillor Charles Mugidho, the Chipinge Rural District Council’s Ward 20 representative, verified the tragic news.
He decried the fact that the lions were endangering the livelihoods of the locals.
People movement has also been restricted, according to Cllr Mugidho, as the human-wildlife conflict resurfaces.

“Stray lions have been observed in and near Chibuwe, posing a threat to both people and animals.” “After the area was included in the Campfire ambit, the problem became worse,” he said.
Villagers were warned by Cllr Mugidho to stay watchful at all times and to prevent nighttime movements.
“Our predicament has been reported to Zimparks, the police, and the Chipinge Rural District Council.” “If the situation is not solved, we are concerned that we will lose even more livestock,” added Cllr Mugidho.
