Couples vow to love one another in sickness and in health, but for a Binga woman, her husband was now the source of her ill-health.
Sekesai Mavhingira’s torment started three years ago when her husband brought home two mysterious creatures that were meant to make them rich.
Instead of accumulating wealth, the goblins became a source of suffering for the family.
According to her own account at a local church on Easter Monday, she became gravely ill less than a month after the goblins became part of the family.
“I have not known peace since these things were brought home by my husband.
“At first they were sexually molesting me and when I sought help from a traditional healer in Binga, I fell ill and almost lost my life,” said Mavhingira.
While she endured the suffering, her husband kept re-assuring her that it was a passing phase and they would soon be rich.
Three years later the couple’s fortunes haven’t changed, instead they have been spending money on traditional healers to get rid of the goblins.
“I was advised by my friend to come to Bulawayo and seek help, for free, from Prophet Emmanuel Mutumwa.
“I had to drag my husband here so that he can hand over the creatures to the prophet, maybe our lives can go back to normal,” she said.
For his part, the husband Talbert Mavhingira stood in front of the Johane Masowe eChishanu congregation and pleaded for assistance.
“We have not known peace since I bought these things from a man who said I’ll get rich in time if I took them home.
I want them out of our lives,” said Talbert.
Prophet Mutumwa then instructed his assistants to start a huge fire on the edge of the shrine where the goblins would be destroyed at sunset.
“Easter Holidays are a time of celebration and healing that is why we have people of different cities and towns here who are seeking help.
“This man’s case is not unique, people are tempted to buy goblins just to get rich but it’s not always the case,” said Mutumwa.
