The homecoming dinner held in honour of Miss International First Runner-Up and Miss International Africa 2025, Yollanda Elizabeth Chimbarami, was less about pageantry and more about a collective national reflection on what is possible when talent, faith and opportunity converge. Hosted on December 13, 2025, at Tong Fu Restaurant in Belgravia, Harare, the gathering brought together a cross-section of Zimbabwean society to celebrate a journey that began in Guruve District and culminated on one of the world’s most prestigious beauty stages.
Speaking on behalf of the Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central Province, Hon. Christopher Magomo MP, director Precious Chifamba framed Chimbarami’s success as a powerful story of inclusive national development. He noted that her rise underscored the importance of identifying and supporting talent from all corners of the country, adding that her achievement reflected the goals of devolution and youth empowerment under National Development Strategy One.
Hon. Magomo emphasised that Chimbarami’s influence extended beyond international recognition, pointing to her commitment to community upliftment through initiatives such as donating stationery to primary schools in Mashonaland Central. He described her as a role model who demonstrated that excellence and social responsibility can, and should, go hand in hand.
The evening carried a strong spiritual tone, with Chimbarami arriving alongside her spiritual father, Apostle B Java, her mother and other dignitaries. Apostle B Java highlighted the role of faith in her journey, paying tribute to her mother’s steadfast support, including a 21-day fast during preparations for the Miss International pageant. The presence of pastors from across the region reinforced the sense that her achievement was shared by a wider faith community.
Educators also took centre stage, with Mrs Bako, Director and Principal of Makseth International School, reflecting on Chimbarami’s personal growth over the years. She described her as a disciplined and purpose-driven young woman whose success was anchored in strong values, education and mentorship.
Miss Zimbabwe Trust representative Barney Mpariwa reminded guests of the historic nature of the moment, noting that Chimbarami had set a new benchmark as the first Zimbabwean to secure a first runner-up position at a major international pageant. He urged young people to see her story as proof that global dreams can be realized through perseverance and preparation.
The dinner atmosphere was one of pride and renewed optimism, with guests united in the belief that Yollanda Chimbarami’s journey symbolized not just personal triumph, but the promise of a new generation of Zimbabwean excellence.
