The Study
This massive study examined the food habits and cancer risk of more than half a million women for a period of sixteen years; it was carried out by the University of Oxford and released in Nature Communications.
In order to investigate the relationship between bowel cancer and 97 dietary components, researchers looked at foods that are high in calcium, dark leafy greens, non-dairy alternatives with added nutrients, and processed meats.

Researchers found that participants whose daily calcium intake was 300 milligrammes (mg), the same as that of a large glass of milk, had a 17% reduced risk of colon cancer.
