A 28-year-old shift manager at Bakers Inn, William Gonese, has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for stealing $3,420 from his employer during a single night shift to gamble on the Aviator online platform.

An additional eight months were suspended on the condition that he repays the stolen amount. This left him with an effective 10-month prison term.
According to court proceedings, Gonese accessed the company safe during his shift, taking the funds with the intention of using them for online betting. He had hoped to win and return the money but lost the gamble. This ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
