A dramatic scene unfolded in central Harare yesterday after a man, identified as Togarasei Matemera, was ambushed by his wife, Ruth, while trying to leave a shop with a double bed and refrigerator intended for his lover, Lindiwe Sibiya.

Witnesses said Ruth caught Matemera as he was loading the furniture into his truck along South Avenue. Lindiwe, who was inside the vehicle, quickly fled the scene upon Ruth’s arrival.

Despite being exposed for infidelity, Matemera unexpectedly became the center of attention among onlookers, with several women praising him as a “Super Husband” for his generosity. Some even begged for his phone number, impressed by his ability to care for multiple partners.

The confrontation escalated when Ruth seized the truck keys just as Matemera was about to reverse his vehicle. Matemera told H-Metro that Ruth’s reaction was sparked by jealousy, though he claimed to have called her to the shop himself.

“Ndini ndanga ndamufonera kuti auye nephone yemwana ndiigadzirise,” Matemera said, explaining that he had asked Ruth to bring their child’s phone for repairs.

However, Ruth accused him of deceiving her. She revealed that she had followed the pair from a distance after noticing her husband receiving help from shop attendants to load the furniture.

Matemera insisted that Lindiwe had asked to accompany him on a delivery job, but Ruth wasn’t convinced, leading to her confiscating the keys. The couple’s vehicle remained parked for over an hour as Matemera was left stranded without the keys, drawing curious stares from passersby.
