Paul Tungwarara, the Presidential Investment Advisor, has called on Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to return home and take part in national development programs.
He said the government is ready to help those who come back with residential stands, business support, and access to solar energy projects and programs for youths and war veterans.
Speaking at a recent event, Tungwarara encouraged those facing challenges in foreign countries to come back and build a future in Zimbabwe.
“When things get hard wherever you are, come back home. We cannot empower you while you’re not in Zimbabwe,” he said. “Come back, and we will give you something to start your own business and a place to live.”
He also announced plans to launch Presidential Stands for the Diaspora, which will provide land to returning citizens. The government also plans to send buses to South Africa to assist Zimbabweans who want to return, especially 100 pregnant women, so they can deliver their babies safely at home.
“Dzokai kumusha, tokubatsirai muri muno,” Tungwarara said, which means “Come home, we will help you here.”
He added that there are many other programs already underway to support local communities:
The Presidential Solar Scheme is bringing clean solar energy to rural areas. The program will support 200,000 rural households every year for the next five years by providing solar panels, batteries, inverters, and even equipment for farming, like submersible pumps.
The government is also helping war veterans through the Presidential War Veterans Fund, which offers financial and welfare support to those who fought in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.
Tungwarara said these efforts are part of the national goal to uplift every Zimbabwean and make sure everyone has a chance to succeed at home.
