Elton John Tribute Show Shines Bright at The Bishop’s Mistress

The Rhythm Refined Band turned The Bishop’s Mistress into a glittering celebration of Sir Elton John’s music and legacy, delivering an unforgettable performance filled with sequins, colour, and charisma.

Their show, aptly titled “The Rocket Man Experience,” drew a packed audience of enthusiastic fans many dressed in bold colours, sparkling jackets, and oversized glasses  all eager to relive the magic of the legendary rock icon.

The five-member ensemble, led by Jason Wyngard, a renowned DJ, musician, and radio host, once again showcased their versatility across genres ranging from sungura to rock. The evening was hosted by media personality Nabeelah Jogee, who guided the event with her signature charm and energy.

The show opened with a pre-dinner segment, “Soundtracks,” featuring timeless favourites such as Circle of Life, Tiny Dancer, and Your Song. As warm orange and rainbow lights illuminated the stage, lead vocalist Aidan took the crowd on a nostalgic journey through Elton John’s greatest melodies.

Dinner brought a slower, more emotional tempo through the set “Ballads,” which included heartfelt renditions of Nikita, Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, and Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal as the lighting shifted from deep blues to soft golds, enhancing the intimate atmosphere.

The night reached its climax with “Greatest Hits,” the after-dinner segment that turned the venue into a full-blown concert. Performances of Crocodile Rock, I’m Still Standing, and Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting had the crowd dancing, clapping, and singing along under flashing lights and thundering guitar riffs.

Three energetic dancers brought a vibrant 70s and 80s flair, reviving the colourful spirit of Elton John’s golden era.

Beyond the spectacle, this year’s Rocket Man Experience carried a meaningful message — celebrating Elton John’s 35 years of sobriety and using the occasion to raise awareness about drug and substance abuse. It was not just a musical tribute but also a call for hope and healing through art.
