FC Platinum’s men’s and women’s teams will not fulfil their scheduled matches this week following the passing of midfielder Brian Banda on Sunday.
The club has successfully requested a postponement of their fixtures to allow the entire FC Platinum family time to mourn and prepare for Banda’s burial, set for Thursday in Bulawayo.
Club spokesperson Chido Chizondo confirmed that both the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) approved the rescheduling of this week’s matches.
FC Platinum’s men’s side had been slated to face Manica Diamonds in Mutare, while the women’s team, Platinum Royals, were expected to meet Mpopoma Sports Academy midweek and Kwekwe Queens over the weekend.
The club is now focusing on giving Banda a dignified farewell, with all football activities on hold in his honour.
