Five soldiers have been taken into custody by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in relation to the daring cash-in-transit theft of US$92,000 at Newlands Shops in 2022.
Every arrest was made in the previous day. Twelve guns were also taken from Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) troops who were thought to have committed the heinous heist, according to ZimLive.
According to the magazine, the criminals are allegedly connected to several robberies that have occurred throughout Harare.
Four people planned the daring theft at Newlands Shopping Centre on July 7, 2022. They went after a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle that Securico, a security firm, was running. Two additional suspected robbers allegedly involved in the heist targeting a financial services company, where they reportedly fled with a substantial amount of money, foreign currency, valuable items, and firearms, have made their appearance in court.
Identified as Obvious Chanakira (29) and Godknows Garira (28), the two individuals stood before Mr. Donald Ndirowei, facing charges of armed robbery.
Their case was amalgamated with that of seven other alleged accomplices who had been arraigned before the court the previous week.
