Four teams yesterday gave people something to smile about as they watched them outshine each other.
Highway topped the mock tournament, East 49 was second, Legends Village took third place, and matches took fourth place.
Guruve hotel proprietor Monica “Mai Mabena” Chikanda, who is the treasurer of the event, gave prizes to the top four while encouraging all the teams to do their best whenever they play snooker.
Highway chairperson Marshal Chakabva told this publication that snooker is a sport for everyone and it should be supported like any other game.
“Snooker is a sport that many think is only for drinkers, but it is a good sport for everyone. It should be supported just like any other game. We are happy that we topped the mock tournament. May people come for the national black label tournament, Chakabva said.
His colleague Kudakwashe Chimanikire, who is the chairperson for East 49, said they are encouraging the youths to shun drugs through sport.
“As we play this game, we are encouraging everyone to stop drug abuse, and that is our theme,” Chimanikire added.
