Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has advised his team to remain focused despite the disruptions affecting Dynamos’ preparations ahead of their Sunday match in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Dynamos faced internal challenges as players went on strike for three days due to unpaid bonuses, causing uncertainty in their training schedule.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Kelvin Kaindu acknowledged the potential difficulties in facing a team dealing with internal issues. However, he emphasized the importance of his team maintaining their focus regardless of the situation within Dynamos.
“Playing against a team with internal problems can be tricky. It might affect us in unforeseen ways, but we can’t speculate on what’s happening behind closed doors,” Kaindu commented.

He stressed that the magnitude of the match transcends training disruptions, as it remains a highly anticipated fixture for fans.
“We’re not concerned with whether they’ve trained or not. Our focus is solely on the game and achieving a positive result,” Kaindu added.
The Castle Lager Premiership matchday 18 clash is set to take place at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, marking the first meeting between these two rivals at the venue since 2019. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm CAT.
In another story, Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF inter-club tournaments have been designated as non-ranked teams ahead of Thursday’s preliminary round draw.
Ngezi Platinum Stars, champions of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, will be Zimbabwe’s entry in the Champions League, while Dynamos, winners of the Chibuku Super Cup, will compete in the Confederation Cup.
Both teams have been absent from these competitions for the past five years, rendering them ineligible for the CAF Five-Year Ranking.
