Violet Svoba and her two children have been left homeless, enduring harsh weather conditions, after being evicted from their home by her husband, who brought in a new wife.
A resident of 25B Tendere Street in Eiffel Flats, Kadoma, has been living in the open since the Messenger of Court evicted her and her children last week. Violet claims her husband, Odson Machona, orchestrated the eviction to make way for his new wife, Melody Mugabe.
“I have been married to Odson Machona since 2009, and we have two children together. I was his second wife, and after his first wife passed away, I moved in with him at Rimuka,” said Violet.
She explained that family conflicts, allegedly fueled by her husband’s relatives, led her to suggest they buy a new house. In 2019, they purchased a home in Eiffel Flats. However, tensions persisted, and her husband allegedly pressured her to leave.
“Last year, he came to the house with Melody, his new wife, and his relatives. He claimed he wanted to introduce her to the property. On that day, he assaulted me in front of his new wife and family members. I reported the assault to the police, but the case has not been brought to court,” she said.

According to Violet Svoba, the eviction took place on January 3, leaving her and her children exposed to the elements during the rainy season. “They even stripped the roof and removed the doors from the house. Now, they are trying to sell it,” she added.
She further alleged that this was not the first time her husband had abandoned her. “In 2021, he left to live with another woman in Gweru but returned in 2022. Now, he is doing the same with Melody Mugabe.”
Violet believes the Eiffel Flats property, which they purchased during their marriage, is being unfairly taken from her. She also noted that the Rimuka house was originally linked to her husband’s first wife.
Attempts to reach Odson Machona for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to messages or calls.
