I miss my family, i hope they will visit

A KAROI food vendor, who is serving jail for stealing cattle, is appealing to his relatives to visit.

Phillip Chiwara, 33, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for stealing cattle, has not received visitors since his conviction in 2019.

He is serving his sentence at Harare Central Prison, where he is sharing a cell with other inmates who are into music.

“I regret being lured into theft,” said Chiwara.

“Life has completely changed and I am appealing to my relatives to come and visit me.

“If one of my sisters Anna happens to receive this information, may she come and visit me, please.

“My family had been living from my food vending and everything was going on well before I was lured by one of my friends into stealing cattle.

“A number of butchery dealers were frequenting Karoi looking for cheap cattle and that led us into the theft.

“I sustained injuries upon my arrest trying to evade justice and I am yet to recover.”

He finds comfort in playing a guitar, which was left in his custody by one of the released inmates he used to share a cell with.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service gave inmates a chance to spend a day with their loved ones during a family week that started on Friday.

A DOMESTIC violence convict allegedly showered his wife with acid just a day before he was due to be sentenced.

Tatenda Pasipamire 34, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, facing attempted murder charges.

The court heard that Pasipamire appeared in court the previous day, facing domestic violence charges.

He was convicted by Harare magistrate Noticia Slage.

Pasipamire was advised to return to court the following day for sentence.

It is alleged an argument ensued between Pasipamire and his wife and he reacted by showering her with acid.

She sustained severe injuries on her face and the rest of her body.
